On the Right Road
This week felt like a turning point — in all the best ways. I headed into Townsville to get some blood work done, checking in on how my FSH levels are tracking. One of the perks of being in a bigger city? The speed! Blood was drawn at 7:20am, and by 2:30pm the IVF nurse had already called with the results. How’s that for efficiency?
Right now, I’m sitting about halfway on the scale, so we've made a slight tweak to my medication to help get me into the higher end before scan day — which, can you believe it, is only four days away! Time really does fly when you’re busy (or having fun... or both). I’m starting to feel a little spark of excitement. It finally feels like our ducks are starting to line up, and that in itself is something to be grateful for. Hoping next week brings more positive steps forward.
While in Townsville, I also had some acupuncture done. Let me tell you, it completely flattened me — in the best, most relaxed way possible. I was ready to crawl back into bed for the rest of the day. Safe to say I reached peak zen.
It turned into a nice chilled-out day. I got my hair done, treated myself to a mani-pedi, picked up a few bits and pieces, and then headed back to the motel. I decided to try something new for dinner — a pulled pork and pear pizza. Sounds odd, right? But oh my goodness, yum! I’ll definitely be having that again. Unexpected combo, but it worked so well.
The drive home was, yet again, in the rain. That meant a bit of mud fun on the dirt road. It wasn’t too bad — just enough to cake the Lux in a thick layer of dirt. I'd been this close to getting it washed in town, so glad I didn’t bother. I’ll probably book it in for a proper detail next week — poor thing deserves a bit of TLC.
Back home, it’s been full steam ahead. Lick runs, last-minute jobs, and getting organised for the muster in mid-June. Hubby keeps telling me we’re on track... and maybe we are, but from my side, it’s hard to see it yet. I’m only home for a couple of days before heading back to Townsville for another 10, then straight into Field Day weekend — and then mustering kicks off. No rest for the wicked!
I'm very glad I’ve been prepping ahead on the baking front — fruit cakes, chocolate cakes, a few slices — they’ll come in handy for keeping the crew fed. If anyone has good tips for meals to feed a team of hungry workers, I’m all ears!
As for the Field Day weekend, I’m actually excited. It'll be my first time attending, and between the trade show, casino night, and races, there’s a lot to look forward to. Just crossing fingers I’m feeling well after transfer.
On a slightly less exciting note, I had to apply for an extension on my studies. Everything was starting to pile up, and I realised something had to give. Sometimes, you just can’t do it all — no matter how much you want to. So study is on the back burner for now, and that’s okay.
Anyway, just a short one from me today. Big week ahead, and I’m sure I’ll have plenty to share in the next post.
Until then — here’s to staying on the right road. π
