Missing in Action… for the Best Reason Ever

If you’ve been wondering why I’ve been a little (okay… a lot) quiet lately, I promise I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. I’ve just been riding a very different kind of rollercoaster — one that’s equal parts exhaustion, nausea, excitement, and pure magic.
Yep… we’re expecting our first baby! 🤍

Even writing that still gives me butterflies.

The Truth Behind the Silence

To put it lightly, pregnancy hit me like a wayward poddy calf — fast, hard, and totally unexpected. I’ve been battling the full trio: morning sickness (that lasts all day), fatigue that could drop a bullock, and days where just getting out of bed felt like a personal victory.

No one really prepares you for how all-consuming the first trimester can be. I’ve had days where the smell of toast set me off… days where I slept like I hadn't slept in years… and days where I wondered if I’d ever feel normal again.
But slowly, slowly… the fog is lifting.

The Joy That Makes It All Worth It

Through all the queasy mornings and early nights, there’s been this steady, glowing feeling in my chest — the kind that reminds you that something beautiful is on the way. Our little peanut is already loved beyond measure.

The Baby Shopping Begins

Now that I’m upright more often than horizontal, I’ve officially fallen into the world of baby shopping. And wow…
The options.
The gadgets.
The things I didn’t even know existed.
The things I’m pretty sure no human actually needs.

I’ve already got a list started, but before I go too far down the rabbit hole:

What did you find essential?

What made your life easier as a first-time mum?
And just as importantly…

What did you buy that you never used?

(Or that you wish you hadn’t bought at all?)

I’m all for keeping things simple, practical, and clutter-free — especially living this lifestyle where space and sanity matter!

Best Advice for a First-Time Mumma?

I know every journey is different, but I also know there’s wisdom out there from mums who’ve walked this path before me.

If you could share one piece of advice with a brand-new mumma-to-be, what would it be?

Maybe it’s something comforting.
Something practical.
Something you wish someone had told you before your little one arrived.
Or something that kept you grounded when everything felt overwhelming.

I’d love to hear it — truly.

Grateful, Tired, Excited

So that’s where I’ve been… growing a tiny human, surviving on naps, crackers, and cuddles from my dogs, and slowly getting ready for the biggest adventure of our lives.

Thank you for sticking around through my MIA patch — I promise there’s plenty more to come as we step into this beautiful new chapter.

Until next time,
D 🤍
