Catching Up on the Past Week

Image
Well, where did the last 11 days go? Who else feels like you blink and suddenly a whole week or month has disappeared? That’s exactly how I feel about the past week—we’ve been flat-out busy! A little catch-up on things lately: we mustered all the steers, drafted them up, and trucked some out to the feedlot. It’s incredible how much weight the boys have packed on with all the rain we had in February—everything has just taken off, and the grass is going crazy. Speaking of rain, it’s coming down again today. Over the last couple of days, we’ve had 19mm at the house—a nice little drop to green up the lawn (which means I’ll be needing to mow again soon!). The creek came up again, only to about knee-high, but it was nice to see it running. It was really dirty for a couple of days before settling into that beautiful clear flow. We took the dogs down to the river for a bit—not really a swim, just a sit in the water. Funny thing, though—the other morning at 5:30 am, the water was surprisin...

So, Where Do I Start…?

There are so many things I want to share and talk about, and I’d love to hear from you too! Drop a comment below—let me know what you’d like to know about me, share anything you think might interest me, or suggest topics we could chat about. Big News: I Won a Scholarship! 🎉 First up, I’m still in shock… but I won a scholarship for a 12-month leadership program! When I received the email the other week, I was completely blown away. A little background—back in January, I applied for a program through AgForce Training, funded by the Queensland Government’s Women in Industry grant. This program is specifically designed for women in agriculture, offering tailored leadership training, one-on-one mentoring with experienced industry leaders, and networking opportunities to build confidence and expand industry contacts. We had our first meet-and-greet last week via video call, and they mentioned that around 60 applications came in for just 15 spots. So, to say I’m grateful is an understate...

Welcome to Sunrise 2 Sunset - Chasing the Dream: A Warm Welcome from Me to You

Welcome to Sunrise 2 Sunset: Chasing the Dream! Hi, I’m Dannielle - wife, daughter, sister, helicopter pilot, and country lady. I live and work on a cattle station North of Richmond, Queensland, but I grew up on my family’s cattle property North of Rockhampton. I’ve always had a deep love for the land, and it’s shaped who I am today. I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog for many years, but I always thought I didn’t have anything worth sharing. Recently, though, as my husband and I navigate the challenging journey of trying to become parents, I’ve realized that I do have plenty to say. There are highs and lows, struggles, and moments that others might be able to connect with. So here I am, sharing my story with you. The purpose of this blog is to share who I am, where life started for me, what has shaped me into the woman I am today, and the journey I’m on to hopefully becoming a mother. I want to connect with others, share my experiences, and let you know that you’re...
