Is Nesting Starting… or Is It Just Me?

  So, here’s a question I’ve been asking myself lately — when does nesting actually start? And more importantly… has it started for me already? I’m not entirely sure if this sudden urge to have everything planned, organised, and ready is the nesting bug creeping in… or if it’s just my usual OCD tendencies wanting things done properly and in order. Either way, I’ve definitely been feeling a strong pull to get the nursery set up and sorted. The catch? Before I can even start, there’s a bed and a duchess that need to come out of the room, the space needs a good clean, and I’ll need someone to give Frank a hand moving the bigger items — because they’re just a bit much for this pregnant Mumma. Not impossible… just not sensible either. And then there’s the second catch — I don’t actually have most of the nursery gear here yet. Every day I look at the room and think, I should really start setting this up. Then I stop and think… what’s the point right now? We’re still slightly flo...

A Little Wet Season Update

  Thought I’d share a little update on how things are faring up here after the monsoonal rain event we’ve just had. We were very lucky. We received some beautiful, much-needed rain but nothing too extreme — our biggest fall was around 84ml in 24 hours . The river came right up to the house, stopping just short of reaching the concrete underneath. For that, I am incredibly grateful, because this pregnant Mumma had zero desire to be cleaning mud out from under the house. Christmas and New Year were spent at home. We had plans to head out and catch up with a few people, but with the river rising, we decided it was best to stay put — and thankfully so. We’re still currently flooded in, although the river is slowly making its way back down. On Sunday we watched the river peak, and for a while there we looked like a little island, completely surrounded by water (see photo below). While the river dropped quickly, it wasn’t without drama.
